What is POWE?

Important note: Independent research done by Sherry Turner in hopes to get you informed of the really “great opportunities” out there to get yourself connected to the best of the best association. Through my research I have ran into tons of Association which can overwhelm a person and hopefully this direct you, to a really great start.

Power of Women Exchange is a networking group of ladies only. Men are more than welcome to send female representatives from their business. They did have a meeting where they opened up the meeting to include men. Once you join you can attend any POWE Chapter.

What is the Mandate of POWE?
The Power of Women VIP Association’s mandate is to provide effective networking and information solutions with like-minded professional women.

You can connect with each director and have them get you on their member’s mail-out list. It is sent before meeting and usually you have dead-line to register for the upcoming meeting. The email also includes the “Pay pal” tool so you can pay directly. I just love this feature, quick and easy. You can also jump on the POWE web site and register for any or all the meetings. Or all the seminars, lunch & learns and training events. If you have any questions, be sure to email the above director in your area and ask or just email.

What is the basic format of the meeting?
1. Register. (Come early if you need to set up your Showcase table.) You get to choice a card and that is the table you get to seat at during first half of lunch. Half time you choice another card and you move to another table to network at a new table.
2. Assist if you are a volunteer.
3. Lunch.
4. Introductions.
5. Director starts the meeting and speaks about any announcements’ etc.
6. Spotlight speakers.
7. Networking Circle. A topic is given and everyone at table has one minute to introduce themselves and speak on topic chosen for the first discussion. Example Topic: How do you see yourself marketing yourself in the near future?
8. Director Introduces the Showcase table and speak on business at each table.
9. Break. Everyone choices card and moves to another table. Time to network and visit Showcase tables. Fill out Draw tickets on table.
10. Director makes some announcement.
11. Draw Prized picked from 50/50 tickets and member introduce themselves.
12. Another Network Circle. Each member has another minute to introduce themselves and speak about second topic on sheet.
13. 50/50 ticket picked.
14. Table draw tickets picked.
15. Guests encourage to fill out their membership forms.
16. Conclusion. Chance to network some more. Visit Showcase tables and hand out business cards.

What are the benefits of networking the POWE way?
- First and foremost you get to network your business and make valuable business contacts and get many new clients.
- You have access to valuable businesses that offer quality products and services you can recommend to family, friends and other business associates.
Word of mouth networking is the largest and most important way to spread the word about “trustworthy” companies. It eliminates wasted time or disappointment dealing with "not so good" companies that let you down. Yes we have all been there and done it! (Many times)
- You get amazing support from your peers of like minded professional women who guide you along your path.
- You have access to tons of training seminars such as Lunch & Learns on every topic. Topic that could excel your business to where you envision it. You get training from very successful ladies who know how to make your business stand above all the millions of other business out there. Face it we need assistance now a day, with all the new technology and the competition out there.
- You have access to your very own page listing your business on the POWE web site. They provide training on how to best display your business to promote your business to have great success by attracting new clients.
- You become part of an amazing community of women, as their new book states “Power of Women United”. Think about it slowly. We are more powerful as a group united. How so true! The ladies at POWE basically adopt you as their sisters and you end up having an endless supply of talented ladies you befriend which is a lot of fun. Now do you get it? You are not alone!
- Your sisters also connect with many other opportunities to assist in all our communities. We have united to raise money for many charitable groups, teaching part of attracting what we want is to give back also. How my heart has been touched with the dedication of the POWE ladies with collecting and donating time, money and whatever is needed to support the cause that greatly needed our assistance. Good work POWE sisters!
- POWE ladies have also worked hard at getting us recognize in different Media papers etc. We have been features in newspapers, community papers and even in on-line magazines. The word is getting out because POWE is growing and they are opening new Chapters all over the place. Even more Chapters for us to visit to connect with our sisters and potential clients.

What are the opportunities to market your business at meetings?
Showcase Table: $25.00 (You need to register before meeting because limited space is available). There are opportunities to speak to other members at your table during breaks and after. A lot of members put special draws at their table. The director will showcase the table during the meeting and highlight many features of the business being represented in behalf of the Members table.
Members Only Display Table: Table set aside for anyone to display promotional items. Check with director.
Spotlight Speakers: At every meeting 2 people can be a Spotlight speaker and do a 15 Minutes talk about their business. You can only be a guest speaker once a year. After your renewal you have another opportunity to be the guest speaker.
Draw Prizes: You can donate a prize to be draw at the meeting and you will have an opportunity you can introduce and promote your business. You must register prior to meeting if you are donating a Draw Prize.
Volunteers: You can volunteer to assist director with many duties during meeting and you can be recognized or have opportunities to win free booths etc. or a few moments to speak to promote your business. You can volunteer to assist at registration table with everyone checking in.
Also every meeting there is a Membership Ambassador to answer any questions for guests.

There is also a volunteer to sell 50/50 tickets to be draw for cash and the prizes donated by members.
New Member Gift bags: You have the opportunity to add a small gift to the new associate gift bags. These are usually given to new member at following meeting. They are given an opportunity to give 5 minutes talk introducing themselves.
Lunch & Learn or training Seminars: You can have the opportunity to set up a training section that will be promoted on the POWE web site under events. The goals are education and enlighten members on subjects related to health, wellness and lifestyle. Boardrooms are available at head office 110-A Ash Street, Whitby which you can check on web site for room rental fees or call 905-668-2352 to book our space. If you want to set up a Lunch & Learn which is usually around an hours please see your director.
Conference: Held in April at the Ajax Convention Centre for all those that want to network more the POWE way.
Early bird price: $100.00 but after $175.00. There are many other opportunities to feature your business. They have tables, keynote speakers and they even sponsorship packages.
Special POWE member discounts: Members offer special discounts to their POWE sisters.
POWE group advertisement discounts: POWE directors have arranged for special pricing for some ads in papers such as Snap Quinte or Muchmor Canada Magazine where members have had a group rate.
POWE Member Health Benefits: On POWE web site we are being offered benefits at a POWE discounted price.

You can join for free an on-line Power of Women Exchange network. It is a great tool if you have questions or just like to learn. There is a wealth of information being discussed, so join today. I especially like it because you can find out all the events and let them know you are attending. You can also see who also is going to event.

Muchmor Business Network: You can join for free an on-line business network, where you can join POWE groups to interact with other. Not all are POWE members so you have more opportunities to market yourself. It is a great tool if you have questions or just like to learn. There is a wealth of information being discussed, so join today.

Cost: $300.00 which includes $100.00 enrolment fee.
Annual renewal cost: $200.00 (They run many promotions you can participate in that you can get your fee paid for. Another benefit of what I was taking about in other articles about the power of referrals. At POWE they value you referring someone to one of the Chapters.)
Meal cost per meeting: $25.00. Register before meeting. Each Chapter has separate registration. (Important Note: Please inform director if you are unable to make meeting of your Home Chapter. It assist them with know how many meals are needed.)
Guests: Pay meal cost $30.00 and is welcome to come twice before joining. They must pre-register prior to meeting. Each Chapter has separate registration.
