When it comes to Holistic Wellness where can a person turn? There are thousand of practitioners in different areas of expertise.
I volunteered to have a case study of Hypnosis done on me because I wanted to clear all the ideas I had of Hypnosis. Many people get the wrong idea of Hypnosis and as in my case I was a little apprehensive about starting the process. Would my mind be controlled, would it open stuff I wasn’t prepared for or ready to deal with? After my first session I was very intrigues about the whole concept. It was very pleasant and I was very aware of everything that was going on in the room. I had complete control of everything and it also opened my eyes to the real meaning of Hypnosis, no he didn’t make me cluck like a chicken. My practitioner worked on my ego, an area I have been stuck on for years. I have wanted to write for many years but when I tried I was overwhelmed and felt stupid. Here I find the last two week compelled to write amazing information articles. I am actually doing it, and ideas are flowing easily to my mind. Can this truly be working? It has to be working because I have written article after article which I enjoyed doing.
Whenever you what to try something new, don’t listen to all the junk people are saying about it. Like the old and wise suggestion I follow: “If in doubt, check it out!” by Unknown Author.
Even years ago anyone that tried to do Holistic Wellness was considered a witch and was burned or drowned. When I was young they considered Chiropractors “Quakes”. Hey what about all those people that actually believed the earth was flat. Come on now. Go exploring! What can it hurt; you might meet some really nice people on the way that can teach you volumes of information.
In order to best answer that question of what is Hypnosis, I figure it was best to quote a professional?
“Hypnosis has been shown to be a safe, effective way to use the power of suggestion to effect positive changes in a person’s behaviour and responses. Hypnosis may be envisioned as a way to help landscape and beautify the garden of our inner self”

How does Hypnosis work?
This amazed me because we Hypnosis ourselves already? Have you ever been driving and got somewhere, and then panic because you missed part of the journey. You were day dreaming which was in a Hypnosis state. Don’t freak out because your sub-conscience was on auto pilot.
“The Hypnotic trance state is a naturally occurring state characterized by a heightened suggestibility and a narrowed focus while still remaining alert. It is similar to the experience of being totally engrossed while watching a movie or reading an interesting book.
In a typical session, the Hypnotist guides the client into attaining a relaxed trance like state. This allows both the critical, judging conscious mind to be bypassed and access into our subconscious: the domain of our imagination, creativity, emotions and long term memories.
It is here in the subconscious that helpful post hypnotic suggestions are more readily accepted and implemented. The client is also taught how to reinforce these suggestions by Means of Self Hypnosis routines.” By John S. Neder DOMTP., CHt. - Certified Hypnotist.
First Session:
My first session took about 1 1/2 hours. You have to fill out a form so he can assess what your needs are, than I was asked a series of questions, where under the discerning ear of my Hypnotist who was able to figure out where to start. Most people only have a basic idea of what they need to work on. It’s kind of like “not being able to focus on the tree, but only seeing the whole forest”. The assessment pinpoints the specific concern and than he can gear his session on that one area. With me I wanted to do well in my business but what finally came out, is so I can have more time to write, which turned into the reason I am not writing, LACK OF CONFIDENCE. Wow this was the reason I was stuck. Who cares if I can’t spell or don’t know grammar. He said that is what spell check (Thank goodness for spell check!) is for and editors. So next the Hypnotist was able to do an Ego building session where he got me relaxed in a chair. Basically in my relaxed state, which I was completely awake but had my eyes closed. I was in a nice dreamy state to receive all the wonderful words of encouragement for my ego. He was talking basically to my sub-conscious, the same sub-conscious that does everything automatically.
If you want to learn about the sub-conscious, check out the book “Power of Focus” by Jack Canfield. Sadly most people sub-conscious is set to sabotage and that broken record keeps spinning around and around with negative sayings that you accumulated since you were a child. When you were a child you are like a sponge just absorbing everything and anything than as you grew you just reinforce all those things you learnt along the way. From different sources, some not so good like for example the songs we constantly listen to. Most people don’t even know the words to a song and when they actually “read” them they are shocked. You wonder why our young people get into some very dangerous stuff. The words are bombarded into their heads for hours and hours. You wonder why there is a high rate of teen suicides. Go figure! I am not saying songs are bad. I am just saying that be careful what you listen too; the songs could be programming your sub-conscious.
Back to the session which must be working because above I went completely into another zone. After he finishes all his amazing encouragement, he ended by having me come back to the room and open my eyes. I felt relaxed and good.
He gives you a sheet with homework. Yes you get homework where I had to do an exercise in the morning and at night.
He also taped the session and asked me to listen to it once a day, which worked out well because I like to fall asleep listening to stuff.
Second Session:
Second session can be about 45-60 minutes. He asked a few questions to see your progress. With me writing of course I had lots to say. I was so excited about all my progress during the week.
He started the Hypnosis treatment with having me relax, as last time but incorporated some notes I had written down of a “nice happy place” that felt good to me. It was like stepping into my living room and sitting by my window, so peaceful. I listened dreamingly to his words of encouragement and before I knew it was over. It lasted about 1/2 hour but it seemed like I had been there for hours. He called it time displacement.
How long will I need to have Hypnosis?
It is suggested for 4 sessions and than a follow up session a month after but it can vary depending on what you are working on. Don’t forget, you have been programmed for years so it doesn’t fix itself over night. You have to be patient with everything you try because in time you will see the wonderful results.
What is the cost?
The first session is $125.00
After that they are $75.00 as session.
What impressed me the most about “my” Hypnotist?
Besides the fact that it is actually working, I am very impressed with my Hypnotist.
John is also a Registered Massage Therapist. He knows all about what is inside of you, and how everything works. What I mean is, he understands how the emotion can affect our body parts. Get it! He understands the whole picture.
What also I noticed while having the session is he sees everything. What does this mean? Well after spending over thirty years as an Instructor in Martial Arts with Black Belts in Judo and Jiu Jitsu and even in June 2007 John was inducted into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame, USA.
Think about this for a second, these guys are trained to notice everything and be tuned into everything. He could probably be on the other side of the room and still be able to sense what I need or am feeling. I was told by him once that in Martial Arts you have to anticipate your opponent’s next action, the trick here was you were blind folded.
Now you know his secret and why he can tailor the session to your reactions. He is very attentive to your needs even before you realize yourself. I started to cough and he kept talking and than next thing I knew he handed me a glass of water to calm my tickle. He even knows when you’re being distracted and pulls you back to the room.
Add all of this together and you are getting a very “unique person” with some very powerful abilities. So as far as I feel I am in a win-win situation under the best possible care.
Actually I have a feeling I have just tapped into “one of a kind” Hypnotist who can make a difference in my life and others.
