What is a Healing Crisis?
When studying Iridology many years ago I studied a book by Bernard Jensen D.C., Ph. D. called "The Science and Practice of Iridology". In studying this most amazing book I was introduced to the physical process of a "healing crisis".
This truly amazed me especially sitting sick and wondering could this be a Healing Crisis I was experiencing. I started it by having a massage and feeling the best I have felt in years, than I woke up the next morning with a sore throat that followed by chills, fever, chills, fever that went on for a night and day. I got up steamed my face with sea salt and Eucalyptus and I finally expelled a large lump from my throat area and felt 90 percent better. Drank a bottle of water than tuck myself in for a long nap where I sweated like a pig but slept soundly. On the fourth day I felt great again with no symptoms of even being sick which surprised me that I was fine again. I had a super fun night but woke to Laryngitis and could hardly speak. I was coughing up stuff similar to what I coughed up about 12 years earlier when I had croup. I was so sick at the time I could hardly eat. My dad was buying me Ensure so I was getting some nutrients in my body but I drank gallons of water but cough like crazy. My chest had been so full of thick pasty yellow substance that tasted yucky. Sorry not trying to grouse you out but trying to show you the same was happening because I was coughing up the same stuff. I was amazing but not surprised because I realized indeed it was a Healing Crisis I was having, so I proceeded to drink tons of water to help purge my system. I did some tapping on my head down to my chest and got my husband to tap on my back to help loosen everything and I coughed it up and started to feel better and better. Day 7 and again I feel better and I am down to a cold.
There was a great quote by the Hering's Law of Cure that explained this process.
"All cure starts from within out and from the head down in reverse order as the symptoms have appeared."
What does this mean?
Another way it is called is the retracing process. It is almost like retracing the steps backwards of all the illness you have had in your past.
What is the difference between a disease process and a healing crisis?
The manifestations of the process of the sickness is usually similar but with the healing crisis is usually brought about through an "accumulation of health" in the body. Yes I did say "accumulation of health" just now. In other words it comes right after a person is feeling at their best. This is usually when you can expect a healing crisis and this is when it can do its best work. I learned that it takes a lot of energy to eliminate waste so you need be at your peak in order for your body to start doing it natural job of purging itself. It may use a fever to burn off toxins or a cold to expel junk from your lungs but in the long run you end up with something being expelled.
How do I bring on a Healing Crisis?
When you make a life change and eat the right foods or perhaps do a fast than you may be able to bring on a Healing Crisis. Bernard Jensen had used also cold water and sun treatments to bring on a Healing Crisis over a period of weeks.
What should I do if I experience a Healing Crisis?
From information from books it suggests to drink tons of distilled water. Depending on what you are experiencing, eat lots of fruits and vegetables. If you are experience fevers than as the old expression goes. "Starve a fever and feed a cold" this is a good time to do some fasting. There is some really good all natural home remedies for fasting. It best to let the fever run its course and take cool baths or sponge baths to keep your temperature from going to high. Always consult your doctor when experiencing any discomfort or illness. Always consult your doctor before starting any new dietary or exercise programs to have them monitor your progress.
